Everybody at FC Barcelona is working tirelessly to bring the first major signing of the summer: Antoine Griezmann. It's a deal which is set to happen a year later than originally planned but the Frenchman is finally going to step out on the Camp Nou pitch as a Barça player.
Griezmann: El Barça trabaja para presentarlo el lunes
The current idea is for Griezmann to be officially unveiled on Monday. The only thing which is stopping the deal from happening at the moment is Griezmann's buyout clause. Once Barça deposit the €120m with LaLiga, everything should move quickly as personal terms have already been locked in. His new deal at Barça will run for five years and include a €300m buyout clause.
Griezmann will fly into Barcelona from Ibiza as soon as that part of the transfer is complete. They are hopeful the forward will land in the city on Sunday evening and have his first photo session. The plan would then be to present Griezmann to the media and supporters on Monday morning after he's signed his new contract.
The same as Neto
Griezmann's press conference will be an interesting one as there will be a lot of questions about his past decision to stay at Atletico as well as his reasons for joining Barça now. He's constantly avoided answering them but this would be the perfect time to reveal his thoughts.
As was the case with Neto, he won't be able to step out onto the Camp Nou pitch next week as it's currently being replanted ahead of the new season.
If everything goes to plan, Ernesto Valverde will have Griezmann to call upon for Monday's afternoon training session.
